Public Opinion and Political Behavior

I direct large-scale quantitative studies of voters and political parties—including the Volebný Kompas voting advice application and the longitudinal Volebný Kompas Panel—and conduct survey experiments, both within these projects and across multiple countries, to examine contemporary challenges to democracy in the 21st century arising from changes in technology, inequality, culture, and governance.

Volebny Kompas Panel:
The Volebný Kompas Panel delivers high-quality, transparent, and methodologically rigorous data to advance the understanding of political attitudes, behaviors, and democratic change. Rooted in Slovakia and designed for international comparison, the Panel equips scholars, policymakers, and the public with insights that inform debate and strengthen democratic resilience.

Launched from the 2023 Volebný Kompas Voting Advice Application (N = 134,699), the Panel now engages 30,742 registered participants—making it one of the largest longitudinal studies of its kind in Europe. By following the same individuals over time, and integrating both surveys and experimental methods, it provides a unique window into how citizens think, act, and respond in a changing political environment.

Purpose & Scope The Volebný Kompas Panel is a non-commercial, academically run longitudinal panel, tracking political and social attitudes, behaviors, and experimental responses within the VK VVA 2023 cohort. The VK panel is committed to open science and to building research infrastructure that serves as a lasting resource for the study of democracy in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. While Slovakia is our central case, our design aligns with leading international survey standards, enabling meaningful comparative research.
